Honoring Dads this Father's Day
The role of a father is unique, vital, and important.
Fathers play an irreplaceable part in family life. A father serves, protects, and loves his wife and children. He provides a sense of security and brings joy, light, and peace into his home. As we read in Proverbs 20:7, "The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him."
This Father’s Day, we want to take the opportunity to honor fathers for their great impact on their families and the world.
As women living in the modern world, we are often told that the men in our lives are unnecessary. Our culture constantly portrays fathers as silly, incompetent, and unreliable, completely undermining how impactful fathers truly are.
We want to flip that narrative today. We believe that men, specifically fathers, are not only worthy but essential in family life. As St. Pope John Paul II said, “Nothing can replace the role of a father in the family,” and we could not agree more. Though fathers are all different, what they share in common is their great impact on those around them. They have an important responsibility to nurture and guide their families toward beauty, goodness, and virtue. And though no dad is perfect, it is up to us to encourage fathers in their role and to cherish them for their strength, wisdom, and compassion as often as we can.
This Father's Day, let's make the dads in our lives feel loved and respected for all that they do to support our families. May God truly bless fathers and give them the strength and courage to live out this important role well!
"Every family needs a father- a father who shares in his family's joy and pain, hands down wisdom to his children and offers them firm guidance and love."
— Pope Francis
