This event highlights the value of family traditions and shared activities during the Advent and Christmas seasons, as well as the importance of setting the tone in the home to counter the rampant consumerism in the culture at large.

Preparing celebrations, the actual events and the aftermath, are a lot of work and effort. They take up time and they generally require extra money; beyond that there is an emotional cost as well. You put your heart and soul into creating these celebrations, these memories for your family and friends; you give up your sleep, you miss your exercise, etc. It’s tiring! Is it worth the effort? Are you accomplishing what you want?
