Longing for Home
OVERVIEW:
A GATHERING PLACE: A SEAT AT THE TABLE
In any home that welcomes guests, adequate and comfortable seating is a basic requirement of hospitality. The presenter outlines several ways to meet the seating/dining challenges in a relatively small home/apartment: multi-functional pieces of furniture, folding furniture, etc. The final component of this session is a hands-on demonstration of how to re-upholster a chair seat—a relatively simple and inexpensive DIY project.
CLASS #1:
THE BEGINNINGS: KNOW YOUR SPACE
Creating a home is a challenge - especially for busy young professionals, newly independent and on a budget! This session is designed to introduce the basics of setting up living spaces that work well for ourselves and welcome our guests. The presenters, both young professionals themselves, demonstrate how form and function can meld harmoniously, given some rules of design, practical and technical resources, and a healthy dose of ingenuity!
CLASS #2:
THE WALLS SPEAKS: WHAT DO THEY SAY ABOUT YOU?
The walls do speak; our homes speak volumes about who we are and what we value. Dealing with the importance of beauty in the home, our presenter stresses the variety of styles (traditional, contemporary, eclectic, etc.) and the use of color as design tools. How to mat a picture to its best advantage and where to hang it optimally conclude this informative session.
